  • 5-minute Daily Practice: Grammar, Grades 4-8

    Judith Bauer Stamper

Paperback (Teaching Resources, July 1, 2003)
Grammar is one of those important subjects that many students find difficult to swallow. One solution is to offer students grammar practice in small doses. This book is designed to do just that. Each of the grammar activities in this book should take the average kid only five minutes to complete. (Of course, some students may take a little longer, while others may finish sooner.) Kids get quick and much-needed practice in parts of speech, sentence structure, capitalization, punctuation, and much more. How to Use This Book This book contains 180 grammar activities--one for each day of the school year. To use, reproduce each page and cut apart the activities. Then hand each student one activity each day. You may also want to post the activity on your bulletin board, or copy it onto the blackboard. Another option is to make an overhead trans parency of each page. You can focus on one activity by simply covering the others on the page, saving each of these for another day. While the activities were designed for independent work, you can certainly present them to your whole class. You can use each activity to introduce a new topic, to review a topic you've already studied, or to assess how much students have learned. Whichever way you decide to use this book, students are sure to gain a lot from their everyday practice.
